Riccardo Gusmaroli

Riccardo Gusmaroli, born in 1963 in Verona (Italy), lives and works in Milan. He began his career as a photographer for architecture and still life, and then quickly moved on to become an artist, as his talents were discovered by some of Italy’s best gallerists.

His works have been attracting collectors from around the world, and have been shown in galleries in New York, Paris and Italy and many public institutions.

With his work, Gusmaroli continues the tradition of Italian minimalism, and often adds a certain poetry and humorous twist to it. His signature pieces are the Vortici-canvases with numerous small paperboats, that form whirls and vortexes, just as fields of force.

In their three dimensionality, the works have a sculptural character and a great energy that lies within them. At the same time, they are calming and meditative in character as well. This lets the viewer be fascinated, as he feels as if taken on an imaginary journey.
